Here are some of the example animals and their role in the story. The scorpion bit Coyotito and created the whole storyline. The results left Kino on a quest to search for the great pearl of the world. Quote from the story: “It fell past his fingers, fell on the baby's shoulder, landed and struck.” The scorpion is the most important animal in the story. The scorpion purpose is to cause a reason for Kino to search for the pearl for money and save his son Coyotito that was poisoned by the scorpion. The scorpion is the most important animal in the story. If it wasn't for the scorpion to bite baby Coyotito Kino wouldn't gone all his way to suffer such great lengths for the pearl. Kino and Juana went to hunt for oysters and ended up finding the great pearl of the world. Quote from the story: “The shell was partly open, for the overhang protected this ancient oyster, and in the lip-like muscle Kino saw a ghostly gleam, and then the shell closed down.” The oysters contains the Pearl that Kino was looking for. It contains one of the most important event of the whole story.              The ants in the story symbolizes Kino. When Kino put his foot in the ants’ path the ants just went over his foot and continue on it's journey. This symbolizes when Kino tries to interfere with nature. When he took the Pearl of the world, nothing has changed. Quote from the text: “He watched the ants moving, a little column of them near to his foot, and he put his foot in their path. Then the column climbed over his instep and continued on its way, and Kino left his foot there and watched them move over it.” In conclusion, the scorpion, oyster, and ants all symbolizes our society. The scorpion symbolizes people who are not trustworthy. The oyster symbolizes a hidden knowledge or something powerful. The ants symbolizes hope within an individual. This story are full of mystery and surprises sometimes. These three animals were chosen because they play the biggest role of the story than any other animals in the story. Overall this story have a lot of twists and turning points throughout the chapter.
